I require a new 17" rim for my TDV6 S, preferably the original as I believe the aftermarket types need to consider space for the brakes (or something like that). Although I live in Namibia, I can arrange for collection in Cape Town with minimal fuss.
This is a remarkable vehicle making idiots like me look competent off-road.

If you want an OE rim - I'm sure your local dealer will be able to help you out

Guys, I'm getting desperate.
I cannot justify paying R4700 for one 17" wheel rim which is what I'm being quoted for an OE rim.

I have a new 245/65/17 Wrangler tyre on a new original Jeep Grand Cherokee Ali rim. I have just checked the bolt holes, they seem the same. Not sure about an actual fit re brakes etc. If it will fit I may be interested in selling it. Check with your Jeep buddies / agent if it will fit. I can only check my side in 2 weeks time. Ren Colyn

Aha Heine! Thank you.
I have seen some X5 rims on eBay in the States and the older ones even look exactly the same as my rims. I will let you know.

Just watch the load rating - some of the non OE ones are a bit low

Just checked the Jeep rim on my D3..... My measurements were close, very close, but alas, just does not fit the studs. Ren Colyn

As a 2nd spare, stuck in the outback, I would even use a wheel from an ox wagon if it fitted! Ren Colyn

I'm still not so sure about this even though there are a lot of BMW rims available (they tend to crash more than Landi owners ).
The technical specs I have for the 17" S model wheel rims are as follows:
Pattern: 5 lug
Pitch Circle Diameter (PCD): 120 mm
Offset: 53P (I think the P means 'positive' which indicates that the offset is further away from the brake calipers) roughly 165mm.
The BMW rims appear to have an offset in the range of 35?
I've decided that I'm taking the tyre only with on my trip and hope nothing untoward happens until I get the OE rim.
Thanks for all the advice.

The D3 is a heavy beast, make sure the load rating is ok on whatever rim you buy.

I've had a look and the distance between the brake calipers is definitely less on the X5 rims , but I've not had any problems other that I once had a balancing weight pulled off (it was on the inside of the rim) in thick mud
