New 2011 models - changes and fuel efficiency? |
|
Hi all,
Does anyone know if the new 2011 disco has any changes or a better fuel efficiency?
I recently placed an order for the disco, but opted for a 2010 model that was just coming of the production line because of the delivery issues with new models. Will be taking delivery in the next few weeks with the 60 plate.
The dealer assured me that the only difference is a diesel filter on the 2011 models to meet EU regulations. This won't have no effect on the running of vehicle, nor will it provide better fuel efficiency or less running noise.
In addition, the new models will go up slightly in order to compensate for the new filter.
Id be grateful for any additional thoughts on this.
Thanks again
Regards
Kap

All dealers will tell you what you want to hear, just like politicians
Go do some homework on DPF filters and see what problems manufacturers and users are having.
Big big problems

I keep seeing this issue talked about on this forum in respect of DPFs. But on my previous BMW it had one fitted and I never had any problem with it. Never even noticed it despite a note that power could drop during regeneration. Not sure what the case is with these but they sound like a good idea given that the microscopic particles are carcinogenic as they penetrate deep into the lungs I understand.

The changes have been covered in a recent thread (or two). However, no mention of any change to fuel efficiency.

Me too. Second week of Sept I have been told.

There isnt much but there is more than that.
Badges changed to silver/green as opposed to gold/green.
DPF fitted as standard meet Euro 5 regulations.
Reshaped rear headrests to meet safety requirements.
Hill Start and Gradient Acceleration Control available.
2.7 TDV6 engine with manual gearbox discontinued and replaced with a 210bhp 3.0 with automatic for Commercial.
3.0 210bhp being badged as TDV6 and 3.0 245bhp being badged as SDV6.
Electric leather seats with arm rests (non-memory) as an option on GS models.
The rear mudflaps are different so something has changed around the body there (probably just how they are mounted)
