New 4WD Dyno arrives in a few weeks !
I start this thread as a place to add pictures of our new dyno when it arrives, once the "cell" is painted and all the fans are in ill add a few pictures of those also.
2013 will be a fun year for developement now we dont have to travel every time we need a dyno for calibration work.
EITD, a few pictures added of the fans.
This first is a 630mm fan for some added extraction is I want the shutter closed.
External fan vent system I made for it which can be opend and closed from inside once finished.
Another 630mm fan to bring in some cold clean air from outside, stop the room heating up tp much. It will also direct cold air into my main large fan.
This is another vent set I made for that one.
This fan is the big one that will be infront of the car, its a fan I had made specially which is 1000mm diamiter and is rated at 20,000cfm. This is it when loaded in the back on my T5 transporter van, as you see not much space left lol.
Here its on the floor with a 1 gallon paint tin next to it for scaling.
This the Dyno main power outlet, front rollers Eddy current brake retarders 32A, Rear rollers Eddy current brake retarders 32A and a 16A for the PC elextronics.
This is for the bed adjust motor to change the wheelbase of the dyno.

This sounds awesome
Now we can have real proof of gains from products and also see where in the rev range the gains are made as this is as important as how much more you have gotClub original turbo
161k and counting
general AT's, oval timer, blanked egr's, silicone intercooler hose's

Yes, for sure it will make things easer, up until now we have had to travel between a possibile 3dynos to do what work we need which is not pratical. Now i can just go into my next door unit

I presume you will have a revised pricing structure to reflect the option of individually dyno'd cars?

Hi
Yes I will offer this service eventually, though first I have to work on some T&C's for it as I cant vouch for the cars service history and mechanical state. It of course is a concern when working it hard on a dyno of which I cant be responcibile for failures. also eventually some public liability insurance for the 2nd workshop as at the moment the insurance only covers public in my main building.
As we know failures would only generally happen on cars that are not maintained correctly or that have mechanical failing components but its hard for me to judge that on first meeting a car.
The last worry I need to address as time goes on is my neighbours, a few hundres yards from my workshops is a row of houses I really dont want to upset them with the noise by running it all the time day in day out. Ill see how that pans out.

Will you be publishing indicative dyno graphs for your standard remaps when you have your own machine?
It's easier to compare the balance between outright power and (more usefully) torque with such graphs.
As you can tell, I am looking forward to a visit. Land Rover - Turning Drivers into Mechanics Since 1948

Yes I will publish all new developement work graphs as and when they are made, I will of course be re looking at all existing tuning to make further developements now availalble time on the dyno wont be so critical.
I first have to finish a few ongoing projects before I can address this as we have just cracked the new 2.2 Defender ecu security and the Evoque fully by OBD and are now working back on the D4 protocals. tipical all comes at once and their now isnt eniough time in the day lol.

You should push some of the work onto some of your customers given the extra support you provide to us all. Think a few of us owe you a favour or two!
Keep healthy and look after your back.
