New AMK suspension compressor - fitting questions

My D3 between the last sensible custodian, and me, had an eBay special Hitatchi "style" replacement compressor fitted, which failed after a month or 2 - it was held on with just the lower bolts, 1 bolt in the cover etc, true bodge it stylee

As I like to do things properly, I bought an AMK compressor, fitting kit and an IID tool

I have all the gear and no idea Laughing

I've followed the guides on here and have a couple of questions (before I take it back off!)

The brass pipe inserts I fitted to the ends of the pipes that go in the compressor - is that right?

I fitted the compressor, wired it up and connected to the valve block. For testing I haven't connected the inbound and exhaust pipes at the back. I've assumed that they are open and will allow air to pass as is?

The new pipe into the valve block pops off after a while, the pipe won't go in very far (compared to the pic on the guide)

So - how many of these assumptions are incorrect (!) and what do I need to do to fix it?

Have you placed the split brass collet the right way on the pipe?. you need to connect all the pipes up as the pump will sense all the lines to see if all is well to operate correctly.

Yes they stop the pipe from collapsing.

So, does the pipe into the valve block end need the brass insert?

Should it all work without the rear pipes connected?

No just the brass olive on it and the nut.

Should it all work without the rear pipes connected?

Yes.
