United Kingdom 2005 Discovery 3 TDV6 HSE Auto Zambezi SilverDiscovery 3
New battery

Hi all

I need a new main battery for my '55 D3, is there any reason why I shouldn't go for something like this:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/LAND-ROVER-Discovery...7291437886

...this is only 600 CCA - I think I need 950 CCA for a D3, or is that really necessary? Any advice much appreciated Thumbs Up

Cheers

For a Discovery 3 with all it's electronics you need a good battery. The rating on the ebay battery are not high enought.

If you phone around the parts departments of your local LR dealers you should be able to get a LR018609 90Ah CCA 950 which has a 3 year warranty for just over £100.

Thanks zig

My local stealership have quoted me 129 quid for the genuine LR battery. I'll phone around and see if I can find it cheaper.

If you're happy 600 CCAs is enough fill yer boots but when the weather's like this you may well regret it. Buy cheap, buy twice.

Thanks DSL, didn't know about that, it's going in Wednesday for a test (to make sure it is the battery and not the alternator) so I'll make sure I remind them of the allegance discount Thumbs Up

...and I think I'll stick with the official LR 950 CCA part Very Happy

Cheers

Afraid it's a "Don't ask, don't get" situation, had PDC errors with my car, put in new battery & fixed, even at -19c. Thumbs Up

Good to know Thumbs Up especially as I have a long list of stuff that needs fixing....broken tail gate release....rear passenger door does not lock......front suspension bushes....aircon needs re-gassing Big Cry

Does the discount also apply to services, or just parts?

Cheers

Parts, labour & services!! Best to phone around & price match, then haggle & try & add Allegance at the end. Never accept their 1st price! Thumbs Up

Thanks John, I imagine the higher CCA RRS battery is more expensive? I'll stick with the CCA 950 LR3 one for now - funds are tight Sad

Pretty sure it was the same price as the D3 one - you just need to ask for it especially Thumbs Up
