New Caravan - best time to buy? |
|
I've been thinking of changing our van.
I never really thought about buying new as always thought you loose too much money in the 1st couple of years but seeing some 2016 vans being discounted now with 2017 vans imminent I'm having 2nd thoughts.
This coupled with the fact that vans at a couple of year old are not that much cheaper than discounted new - looking at an Elddis crusader
I've also read of others getting good deals at launch events/shows.
Trying to factor that my van will be worth less next year when is the best time to buy?

I would wait till end of the season when the dealers are trying to shift the current years models. I got a good deal 3 yrs ago when we changed our last van.

Now! July is the end of the touring caravan season, that's why the discounts are on, as most caravan manufacturers take at least two weeks off for summer vacation you will not get the 'van before September, this means you will get a 2017 model at a 2016 price. It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

The general rule for best prices is:
Buy a 4x4 in the summer.
Buy a convertible in the winter.
And buy a caravan in the winter.
Btw, this comment was brought to you by the ronp 'sensible guide book' and comes to you at no cost. ...... always on the road less travelled 🚧

Interesting.
And what's the thoughts about buying new against a year or two old?

Which dealer did you use up in NE ? Thinking about doing the same changing to a new van . Growing up is optional, growing old is mandatory !

Depends what you want, if new now it the time, dealers are clearing their stock as the new ones are six weeks away, most people on holiday using their vans so not buying, if you wait two or three months it could be April May time before it comes as the order books will be full and you could be on a long list.
