Our Colchester, called Arthur, was built in 1974 and is still going strong and with no damp or rot. We're not really caravaners, we bought it for the kids but it is great fun when we get to use it. We have refurbished it and fitted underfloor heating, mains, a 3kw inverter and 12v so we have ,most bases covered, although there is no toilet and we don't cook in it.

Oddly, I was tempted with an Airstream and came close to buying a vintage one in the spring but decided we'd never use it.

It might be my age but caravans were so much more interesting of the age of Moo’s and the hiss of the gas mantle light can’t be beat. Thumbs Up

Our first caravan was a 1972 Thomson Glennevis with gas lighting. As you say, sitting in the caravan at night with the lights hissing and the open gas fire burning was a world away from the caravans of today Laughing
