New D4 Order - dilemma

Hi Guys,

Having placed an order through a broker in December, I finally have confirmation that I'm on the LR system today (but no number yet):

Galway Green HSE
Almond/Nutmeg w/ walnut trim
Surround cameras
Adaptive xenon lights
Cooler box
Full size spare
Premium mats

Build time likely to be 3 months away Sad

The broker did however offer me a cancellation that should be available in 2 weeks:

Galway Green HSE
Almond/Arabica w/ walnut trim
Adaptive xenon lights
Cooler box
Full size spare
Tow pack

I don't have a price on the cancellation yet, but it's very tempting.

The only big change is the lack of surround cameras, so are they worth it?

Paul

No...I don't think so...I have them and wished I spent the money on other options. You still get the reversing camera.....Spend the money on remote FBH with Pete or other aftermarket upgrades.

cool gadget but not sure how much you'd use them day to day road driving.

if you do a lot of towing the trailer hitch feature could be worth it.

Go for the cancellation. That way, "The PermaGrin" can start earlier. Laughing

PS The rear view camera is all you really need I reckon. Get after market stuff added to you spec later.

It's SWMBO's choice - I get to pick the small details. They seem pretty rare though. I have to admit, the one I test drove looked very good indeed.

IMHO you don't need the surround cameras but you should have a tow pack (if only for residuals). Surround cameras are clever but have little if any practical use. Theoretically they might have some small value in extreme offroad situations, but even then what's the betting that the cameras would be so covered in mud that they were useless.

I find the cameras useful:-

The rear view camera especially when backing onto the caravan and I use the Hitch Assist plus Auto Tow Ball Zoom.

The mirror cameras are also extremely useful when reversing the caravan into a tight space - I get a view down both sides on the monitor at the same time.

Plus I also get guidance for the caravan.

OK the front cameras I do not use much and yes they do get dirty quite quickly.

OK so I have managed well over 50 years without BUT any aid is welcome.
