new to me disco 4 on the drive
Hi everyone,
after being a lurker here for quite a while I took the plunge on a 2016 landmark with sub 60k miles
Found locally in Wiltshire and is very clean inside and out - what you would expect for the mileage
SWMBO very happy to upgrade from the old Subaru outback

Quite a learning curve to get a good understanding of what the vehicle offers but its been a very enjoyable experience so far
Some advice needed if i may be so bold ?
Would you consider using LR dealership or an LR specialist ? - I have a non LR warranty in place but was curious as to what the recommended approach would be here given the low mileage ?
I'm tempted to just stick to specialists rather than main dealer for cost reasons so if there is any reason why a main dealer might be a better option in this case I'd appreciate any advice or guidance

T and S Norman specialists. Steve and George have a wonderful set up and tremendous knowledge. Stay away from LR dealers at all costs.visiting from www.rrsport.co.uk

Hello and welcome,
That's a great looking car. Love the colour.
I'm on my second D4 and absolutely love them.
As my kids would say, 100% stick in the specialist/independent (known as 'Indy's on here). Find a good specialist (use the 'search' function above may help find one near you) and stick with them. They'll get to know the car and you them. That is what has worked for me anyway. I'd avoid the LR Dealer network at all costs is my experience.
Only other point I'd make is drive it. Not just short journeys which D4s eventually hate and cause issues. Have some good motorway runs and fast A roads and it will serve you well...Jim

If the service history is consistently by main dealer I would stay with them up to 100k miles, only one reason for this is in the unlikely event of a catastrophic engine failure they are the only one who will fight your cause. No warranty will cover engine failure
Love the colour by the way, perfect for off roading It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

Beautiful colour Just 'cause you got the power... that don't mean you got the right.

Depends where you are in Wiltshire. I've used Corsham Tyres in Corsham for all my D3s and D4. They have a great reputation for these buses. I think the sole reason for the crazy reliability for my D3, the Old Bus, was because of their care and knowledge.
I will only take my daughter's D3 to them.
Key is to have a good warranty though and a good accessory budget. New Defender L663 110 SE (known as Noddy!)
Sold Volvo XC90 R-Design (known as Basil)
Sold - D4 HSE (Known as Gerty)
No longer the Old Buses original owner
231,000 miles and counting
05 S manual owned from March 2005
D4 Face lifted
Still original injectors and turbo
V8 Front brakes
BAS Remap, Allisport Intercooler and deCat
EGRs blanked
T-Max split charge
Hanibal Expeedition rack
Prospeed ladder
Duratrac tyres
IID BT
BAS FBH control

Hi everyone thanks for all the great advice here and the warm welcome
Overall service history is LR till 2nd owner @ 36k who appeared to take a different path so maybe a bit iffy to get back under LR warranty although there is an interesting missing service @ 48k done by an LR dealer which i have documentation for. overall intervals are ok - mostly every 10-11k - not ideal but could have been worse - I plan to service more regularly than that
I'll visit our local LR dealer in the next few days and see what the situation is work out what to do from there
Cheers everyone

its very high on my list as is the fridge which is bizarrely missing from this landmark !
I could not find any example to buy where ACC is present - must be a very rare option overall i guess
I've been checking out all the great advice on upgrading to ACC and hope to get this in place in the next 12 months or so
