where does it say it has to weigh 3.5 ? Ive not seen this anywhere.

It does say UPTO 3500KGS, maybe you are confusing this ?

Got from department of transport web site it's quite clear and I have checked it on other sites so was not willing to take the risk even hobby inform u but it's your choice but. Car and van insurance void so it loss of house if it goes pear shaped Neutral

I'm pretty sure you read it wrong chap Thumbs Up

I linked you the actual LAW with regard to weights a couple posts ago, maybe you could find the site where it says your car must be exactly 3.5 in weight as that sounds very strange indeed!

It doesn't have to weigh exactly 3500KG to tow a van that size, it needs to have a Gross Vehicle Weight or Maximum Authorised Mass of 3500KG or over in order to tow it - in other words, it needs to be towed by a commercial vehicle.

No pictures inside yet but will post them tomorrow side fixed bed. But king size and seating for 8 at the front ( actual rear )

It's daft really because if it really is 8foot 6 inches wide then it is 4cm too wide for the discovery to tow it. Legal limit being 2.55, 8ft6 being 2.59. Confused

Uk towing laws re width changed to 2.55m early 2011 and brought us into line with the rest of mainland Europe where caravans of this width have been standard in the longer length versions for many years. I wonder how long (pun ) it will be before the length of caravans allowed on UK roads towed by normal vehicles will be increased?

I agree the I'v vans are easy to tow and the disco just tows all day you. Never know next caravan change may be the long vans will be ok to tow
