?New EPB Bedding in Procedure Mode setting
Hi there,
I'm getting ready to do the rear brakes on my "new" MY2016 for the first time. I thought i would check i could get it into service mode. Tried the method in Bodsy's brake bible but it didn't work.
Later i tried the procedure for getting the EPB into the bedding in procedure mode. This then got the "EPB Servicing Mode" message on the dashboard.
Now that i know how to get into servicing mode how do i get it into bedding in mode?
Also the only way i was able to stop the servicing mode was by driving >~30mph.
does anyone know what's going on or have any clues?

I personally think trying to bed in handbrake shoes is a dead end.
Shoes and drums can take hundreds on miles of use to bed in correctly, so a few activations whilst moving is not really going to cut the mustard.

Park brakes don't( shouldn't) have any rotation in normal use so will never bed in. They have to be bedded in during the manufacture to get the correct performance so if follows they need it after replacement . That's why there is a set procedure to follow. I wouldn't want my 3.2 tonne vehicle off down the road on a steep hill.
I di it once and thought what a waste of time, I dont bother doing it now and after 15 years never had any come backs. Just adjust correctly and your good to go.

So did the rear disc/pad change today.
The park brake shoes had 3mm of material on them and looked clean so left them alone other than cleaning the adjusters and setting to closed for the epb adjustment procedure after the discs went on.
Replaced the discs but found that the caliper slider pins were 17mm rather than 15mm and were bigger than the replacements i had (rubber boots etc)
The 15mm slider pins from reputable online source didn't fit in the caliper carriers.
Also the old slider pins were different between themselves. One was plain and one had extra dark metal on its "lower/further from head" half
The plain one had seized on one side but cleaned it up and put it back on with new grease and it seemed ok.
If anyone knows which parts these are as i need to renew the boots and pins?
Brakes feel much better after bedding in and EPB seems to be as effective as it was before.
Having said that the epb was not great doing the bedding in procedure all the way through after a slight initial improvement however it seems happy and quiet and holds against drive.
I thinking a trip to see Disco_Mikey might be in order

Also I replaced the duct tape covering the epb inspection hole that the JLR dealer had on it when they sold it with the actual plastic grommet. I had noticed it getting my winter tyres on and had brought it to their attention when the car went in for its "here are all the faults I've found so far" but after a week in the shop they obvs felt it was ok to leave the tape on.

Did exactly the same thing when I ordered parts from one of the sponsors. Apparently its a common error - you need to look at the VIN numbers on the diagrams

I was wondering if i needed the front brake sliders instead which is where i found them on the sponsor's website I had used.
Ordered and I'll replace the sliders and boots once they arrive.
