New guy - EGR and brakes advice req'd
Hi new to the site, a thought i would see if i could get some feedback on a problem i have. having had a secere lack of low down power over the past 3 weeks the car has had an EGR valve investigion !! The garage has told me one egr spring is weak, both have been cleaned and put back on - test drive tomorrow. However they are quoting £300 for two new ones and 5 hous labour !! Is this about right ? Can i buy new valves somewhere ??
Also need to look at sorting new pads all round, any good suppliers ??
Any help on the above is much appreciated
Hope to be using this site a lot !!

Sounds about right for both of them, although 5 hrs might be a bit OTT, I'd PM 'The Large One',(when you have done min of 5 posts, I think), he is parts manager at yeovil LR, he'll give you the best dealership price on any new parts you may need, and advise accordingly.

There is no spring in the EGR valve. And cleaning them won't make much difference, as most failures are caused by corrosion or mechanical breakdown rather than carbon build up. Don't waste your money on new ones for an 05 model - just blank them off. There's plenty of 'how to' threads on here. Previously:

Blanking them is the best option i agree
I blanked mine before i got any problems after reading advice from this site,Its not worth them letting you down at the side of the road for LRA to come out and blank them anyway with a 2p coin
For the sake of 4p you could have a trouble free D3
