New Member help please

Hello to anyone reading my very 1st message on DISCO3.

I am soon to be in the market to buy a Discovery 3 or 4. (range rover Rolling Eyes)
If the last sentence is gonna get me banned straight away then please let me know Question

I have to say Smile I'm really exited to be joining this forum so again.. Thanks an awful lot for any help that helps make this happen for me.

The thought of driving to the beach ( 1 hour away) and feeling fresh and not ruined when getting there would be fabulous.

I have a quite a painful back problem and I'm in all kinds of pain pretty much all the time so the more comfortable the better.

What I need.

1.) a very supportive seat with a very good lumber support.
I know some seats( worn in seats ) are great for some people, but not for me,.. I need as new ( supportive) as possible.

2.) a hide ride vehicle to help me get in and out better.. The thought of that would be ace.

I think I've probally got around 8k cash to buy one.

I'd like an HSE with good service please.

If anyone knows of one for sale and is willing to gulde me a little then please get in touch.

All questions will be answered with a smile.

Cheers, Pete

Welcome Pete, Don’t know of any for sale, but I can vouch for the seats, even in my 15 1/2 yr old low spec model Laughing Driving from London to Northumberland, and then on to the Scottish highlands, no problem at all regarding comfort / back problems. Of course the ride height is ideal for ease of getting in and out of, and visibility of what’s ahead. I suggest you try one out, to see if the seats etc meet your needs though, before committing to anything.Thumbs Up

To add to that
The suspension also helps make a smooth ride no sudden jarring when you hit a pot hole

Pete2112 - Welcome

I agree with what DN & aja4x4 say.

You need to plan your cash flow if you are going to spend £8k, and have decent reserves for unpleasant surprises; these aren't cheap cars to own & run.

Good luck.

D3 seats are definitely more comfortable(for me) than D4, but D4 HSE with full electric seats have pump up (air) lumbar and side adjustment and easy access, this is where the steering column goes up and the seat goes down when the door is opened and up when the door is closed, electric seats are a must as they can be adjusted minutely to any position.
18 inch tyres not standard on a HSE D3/4 will give the best soft ride, don’t go above 19 inch for maximum comfort.
Good luck with your purchase and checkout the for sale category on this site as in general they have been well maintained. When buying a D3/4 the catch phrase is; maintenance, maintenance, maintenance. Laughing

Hi pete
I also have a back issue (and other injuries which i wont bore you with), which is why i moved from a defender to the d3. mines an 07 hse and i can honestly say the comfort is another level. I would agree with the comment about leaving little spare cash because you'll almost certainly want to buy some goodies for it .
Good luck with your search.

very true ... I'd say your budget, certainly for a D4, is too low if you don't want to start ownership with a list of things that need attention.

The "7th year service" is a nasty attack on the wallet, so many cars are sold on just before that ... possibly something to look out for.
