I have done 43k (kms) and still have the orginal pads. Tend not to use a lot of brakes (it is an auto) when offroad as most of my driving is in sand and I do very little city driving. The killer for pads and rototors is very fine silica (sand and dust).
My first Disco went through rear pads regularly (20 k per set) but I did a lot of more weekend beach driving that I do now. 06 TDV6 SE with many LR and after-market extras. Used only on weekends and trips out west.

I've done 72,000km and the front pads are now just getting to the point were they will need replacement in the next few 1000km.
There's been the odd complaint of early wear. Maybe there was a bad batch? Have a nice day!
