New rear disk won't fit

It started off as a rear brake and EPB overhaul, which was quite simple on the left hand side. The right hand side is a different story.
The new EPB shoes are in place with the guidance of Bodsy's Brake Bible, but the new disc will not fit over the shoes. It will go on if forced, but then the EPB will be locked on. The adjustment ratchet has the shoes in what should be their most free position but the hub won't rotate at all. What could cause this?
(The EPB Replacement kit is genuine Land-Rover but the Disk is Delphi. Surely this wouldn't make a difference?)

Same as my issues, you need a diag tool to put the system into change mode to allow you to fit. I had to go to a local Indi to finish the job 😔

Doesn't Bodsys superb guide tell you how to put epb into service mode by holding down lever while removing key etc? Or is this something else Question

The problem is unlikely to be that the epb needs winding back. I've come a cross this a few times and mostly it is due to the L shaped wedge on the back, not being all the way in its slot. This happened with genuine parts as well as non genuine.
In one case, the shoe had I be replaced as it just wouldn't sit right, but another one out of another genuine set did.
Mostly though, if you put the wedge adjuster back to its original position, it will be fine.

Yep as Bodsy says its the little wedge shaped piece of metal on the shoe, it needs to be all the way back in. I check this now on every shoe I fit because it seems to be the norm now that you have to do it.

Let me ask, is it advisable when replacing rear brake disks to also replace the EPB shoes???
I m on the 7th year with my D3 and run approx 60K miles, had no prob with EPB so far

Cheers

No not unless they are damaged or worn, if they look ok leave them on.

I am surprised that the shoes ever need changing Shocked, the park brake by definition is a park brake, it is applied and released when the vehicle is stationary or should be, so when is there friction to wear the pads?
 It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

I had the same problem today, was replacing rear discs, shoes & pads. Nearside disc went on but very tight
Offside would not go on there was 1/4 inch too much shoe!I had set it in service mode and removed Fl8 but it seemed to me the actuator cable had not released enough so the shoe expander was expanded. I plugged in hawkeye and set EPB Mounting mode there was a whirring noise and a couple of creaks and the shoes had gone to the proper position and I was able to slide the disc on easily and completed the job adjustment bedding in etc. Another big thank you to Bodsys Brake bible and Disco Mikey for the jammed unlatched item which gave me some insight and the confidence to do it.
