New rear wiper design now available |
|
All of us who have suffered the rear wiper seizing up, and resting away from the glass should be aware that a new Tech bulletin has been released as of 5th June.
The TSB number is LA501-027, and once again is a "Upon Customer Complaint" basis, so no complain = no get
It takes 0.1 hours and is a new wiper design with a plastic bearing.
Should solve the prolem, the D3 has a very flat ar*e and sucks a lot of road dirt onto the wiper, so a metal bearing would soon seize, as we have all found

I'm not a fan of wiping the back window and what they should also improve is the design of the wiper stork to prevent it from being easily pushed to wipe the rear window.
Because I don't wipe the rear window dirt builds up and when the rear wiper is accidentally activated the dirt and grime is scoured across the back window without you even knowing.
This just adds to my beef with the wiper set up on the front - rain sensing wipers that don't work in my opinion.

On a, uh, similar note... Has anyone had any luck removing slight scratches without glass replacement? Any somewhat "professional" service? I'm not really in the mood to swap the whole thing, but I somewhat doubt there is a decent solution.

I've seen 'jewellers rouge' used in the past, although you'd need to check that the glass isn't coated otherwise it'd really make a mess
