| New tyres. 50 MPH on M6. HDC Transmission Fault. Suspension |

Hey guys,
So, in the last week I've had new rear brakes, calipers, lower steering column (hasn't solved the loose steering at all), new tyres all round.
Just drove up the M6 at 50mph and after about 15 miles I get HDC Transmission Fault Suspension Lowered. The yellow suspension sign lit up.
Car accelerated fine but the suspension tightened up and went quite stiff.
Turned the ignition off while travelling, turned it straight back on again and the issue went.
Can new tyres cause this in any way?
If so / If not, is there a list of things I can troubleshoot, please?
(Got a 400 mile journey coming next week and could do without this)

You really need to have the codes read
Could be something as simple as a wheel speed sensor

Based on the steering column being replaced this seems very likey indeed...

Thanks guys,
The car is booked in for new track rod ends (slight play) and an alignment on Wednesday (I travel that evening).
I'd imagine its standard process to reset the steering sensor when doing an alignment, no?

Not in my experience they just use the electronic system screens to manually adjust each wheel. Nothing sensor/electronic reset in my experience.

steering angle sensor needs calibrating with specific land rover diagnostics.
Very easy procedure that takes very little time but you do need the correct tool.

OK, sound. Will make sure they check codes and reset steering sensor. Appreciate that, Gaz (edit) AND Sea Racer 
Any idea why the car pulls wildly to the left and I have to hold the steering wheel at 1 o'clock position to keep it straight?
The Indi thought changing the lower column would help but it's done nothing.

Are you saying you had the vehicle into a garage and they have given you it back still with that fault
sounds like an accident waiting to happen with what you describe, should you be driving it at all?

Great question!
So, the pulling to the left and having to tilt to the right has gone on for a good year now.
I ride a motorcycle 9 months of the year so just put up with it. I'll be using the car more now so I thought I'd get the work done.
Took it to a specialist 2 months ago who said a rear brush was slightly out causing the steering to pull but I didn't quite believe that and felt they were making up a reason to charge me the diagnostic fee.
Took the car to another garage who said that my alignment was out and that I'd need a new lower column.
Took it to LRC Congleton who said I have very slight play in the track rod ends and that I needed new tyres.
Changed the tyres. Rise is smoother but the steering is still way off.
So, I'm at a but of a loss on this.
I can say that driving at 50 mph the steering is very light / loose at the 12 o clock position and the car only starts to turn when at the 11 and 1 o clock position. Doesnt feel very safe but no one has a cast iron answer.
Haven't had the alignment yet (weds) but the garage isn't 100% that it'll work.

Start with another alignment at a different place with laser system.

Does the pulling left, having to counteract that with steering slightly to the right sound in any way like something you've heard before?

Yes had similar was alignment. Tyre pressures need checking too.
Remember that roads with significant camber will make the situation seem even worse.

Ok cool. Knowing the car is in on Weds for the laser job makes me feel a bit better. I'll make sure to get the steering sensor re calibrated.
