New Vehicle - Recommended Preventative Maintenance |
|
Hi All,
I'm a happy owner of a 2015 Disco 4 HSE Lux, and have just returned from Europe having towed an aircraft cockpit into Southern Germany and back!
I bought it with 80% main dealer service records, and a few independent LR garages. The feeling I get is that it's been well looked after, but having spent a few hours watching Christian and Vera on LR Time on YouTube I'd like to get an idea about what preventative maintenance people might recommend? It's done 102,000 miles, and the last service included "Cam Belt Renewal". That's quite vague so I don't know if they did any pumps or anything, what should I be looking out to do?
I've got a very small coolant leak somewhere (half a pint a month ish) but what other preventative maintenance items would people suggest, to ensure I can keep it in tip top shape?

Hi and welcome...
That's some road trip! Well done and am kind of jealous..
In terms of preventative maintenance you'll not be short of suggestions on here and a good trawl through the 'Search' function with similar terms above is highly recommended.
Do you have a trusted independent garage who will look after the vehicle or is this your bag when it comes to maintenance? If it's not and you don't have an independent specialist in mind then find one is my first and strongest suggestion..
That coolant leak would be a priority for me, it maybe that level of loss at the moment but if it suddenly drops a lot more you'll be in serious trouble...
Others will have views but I'd be looking at a gearbox flush too...
I hope you have more continental trips planned?!
Enjoy
Jim

Find a good indie and let them give it a once over to put your mind at ease, well worth an hours labour !
Check BOTH belts were done as LR tend to only do one! And find the cause of the coolant leak! Get underneath (in off-road height). Remove the sump guard and see if you can see anything, could also be from the washer bottle as they are prone to crack.
At least your battery will be well charged but check the age and charge it’s holding!
And enjoy!
Edit: seems Jim is a faster typist I want to see the sweets before I get into your windowless van... I'm not stupid!

Thanks guys!
I plan on taking some shrouds off and checking belts of wear and perishing soon, and I've already had the covers underneath off - someone had butchered putting them back on!
I considered changing the water pump out, and maybe the coolant crossover pipe - some had mentioned that would be good preventative stuff?
Jim - mine is a Loire Blue HSE Lux, evidently a man of good taste

I ran my 65 HSE Lux to 92K without issue. Was a superb (lease) car... OV65TMO, it's out there somewhere! Jim
