Newbie broken wing mirror |
|
So my wife reversed our 2010 D4 out of a car parking space and caught the wing mirror on a tree, which has smashed it completely. It was a powerfold one I believe, do I have any option to buy the parts and fix myself or would the paint work be the issue? any help welcome!

I bought a second hand mirror last year and painted it myself, I was quoted £35 to spray it, I had lacquer and primer at home, so I thought I'd have a go myself, I bought a tin of the correct colour paint from Halfrauds (had to order it, but I'm sure you can get it mixed somewhere local cheaper).
watch a few YouTube videos on how to apply the paint and rub down correctly and you're away...
Or just pay the £35 and get it done..
Try and find one the same colour? I would ask on here, as there is probably 10,000 complete disco 4's split between all the members garages..
Make sure you get the correct mirror as obviously there are different variants. Disco4 MY16 SDV6 Landmark Black
Disco4 MY12 SDV6 XS Orkney Grey (Gone)
Defender 90 200tdi Completely rebuilt.

Any tips how to get the cover on and off without damaging?

So I have the Galway green part of the mirror although the clips seemed to have snapped off. I think pairing one for £35 quid is pretty reasonable. Few won’t morrors on eBay, colour agnostic. Is there any way of finding out the part number?

I did my drivers side mirror recently, they have all the parts individually for the mirror at Eurocarparts.
Sprayed a primed cover and the good one to match myself at home easy peasy!
