Newbie looking for training

I have recently bought a 55 plate D3 after much research on this forum (Thank you for all the help and advice Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Thumbs Up ) I bought it with the sole purpose of showing my English wife and kids that nature is out there and it is there to be enjoyed!

However seeing as I have been here for 8 years and not been offroad for all that time, I think its best I get a refresher course before taking on the great out doors. Is there anywhere in Leeds or surrounding area that anyone can recommend? Happy to travel as well and any suggestions welcome.

Thanks

You could try Parkwood (http://www.parkwood4x4.co.uk) it's not far from you - I've not been myself yet, but I'm probably going to have a run there soon - I'm going to give them a call about the same sort of thing once we're into the new year

Hi. Land Rover experience are very good but can be very expensive for what you get. I did some formal driver training with a number of LE sites and whilst they helped me qualify it was pricey. Surprised
 Cheers

Do you need formal training or a bit of informal practise?

If the latter, consider going to some RTV's (road taxed vehicle trials) run by a local club such as the Yorkshire Offroad Club (www.yorkshireoffroadclub.net) Pub meet last Tuesday off the month at the Dyneley Arms at top of Poole Bank on the Otley Road just north of Leeds

Formal then there is the LRE north of Skipton, plus independents, Parkwood at Tong, Robin Hoods Bay etc

If you go ask the right questions at...

a dealers.
You may get a free 1/2 day invite to Coniston Hall (just past Gargrave & Skipton)
If you orgnaise this onto the right day (with less peolple experiencing) you will get one to one instruction
You can ay cost extend the free 1/2 day to a full day.

I was lucky enough to throw the double six some years ago when I had my D2...& got an instructor who was/is a real LR enthusiast who provided a very full day of instruction....it was also crap weather so the course was at its best.

OK you may have to pay a bit but I can thoroughly recommend LR experience at Coniston Hall.
They will show you just how your vehicle works on thier kit that isnt prepared or special..

To me the demonstarion of how ABS systems allow you to steer whislt braking hard (done in a fiield with long very wet grass) was a real confidence booster.
A later visit I experienced the D3 inbuilt (always there) function that stabilises the D3 when towing (& the trailer overides the D3) it was conducted by the instructor on one of the private roads they have....very impressive & a bit scary.
LR experience training is good as they spell out rules to use that make real sense..
 BREXIT - done properly.
Right now ...We need Government - not Politics
Save the Dipstick Flagbearer-keep it simple, less likely to fail campaign-agenda items:Starting Handles, Acetylene Lamps.
Founder: Dipsticks-R-Us Inc
D3 HSE-perfectly formed, passenger friendly...has real DIPSTICK
Jag XK-but sadly no DIPSTICK...HUGE design fault
FL2 has DIPSTICK..."real comfort in rear seats"
VW Golf wondermobile (?)..has real DIPSTICK
Morris Minor..original DIPSTICK technology..and a real KEY.
