Next service is going to hurt...

Just found out on a 2013 plate 40k mileage LRD4 that the next service will be around £1200. paid nearly £800 for the last service.

It does not look like it’s going to get any cheaper either with the next three over £1000 a go.

This is approved service pricing and not a main dealer.

What are the options?

Sell and get a 2015 D4 or an Audi again? Audi servicing has never been as expensive as LR.

Assuming it's just a normal service each time, nothing untoward, I'd expect £500-800 each. I'd get another quote if I were you.

I assume it’s the 7 year service you’re referring to, which is the belt change.

Yes, it’s not cheap!

They are not cheap to run, but remember they have lots of extra bits that need servicing, and oils for compared to a non 4x4 or car.

£1200 for a service and timing belt? At a main dealer, that's probably about right...

Then its 8th year service is just a "B" service

Then 9th is an "A" service

Where are they getting over £1000 for each of them? Shocked

Yep! Got the 7 year itch on my 2013 next month! Also rear brakes need changing and the tyres are getting thin. Oh, the £550 road tax too. 👍

my local dealer was £1000 for 7yr service inc courtesy car use for the two days they had my car. Servicing before that was just over £500 in years 5 and 6 . Not had a quote yet as not contacted them for yr 8 . Was thinking of going to my local indy who has done a couple of repairs for me. As labour rates a hell of a lot of cheaper.

Defo shop around and see if you can find cheaper, does seem a bit on the pricy side for the normal service. Yr 7 is expensive anyway.

Just had 72k mike service and that wasn’t cheap but the next one is coming up as £1200. It then dips back down to 72k price then up again for the next two at £1200 and £1000 give or take.

surely you realised when you bought a technical car the service side is not straight forward...if you want cheap get a micra….our main dealer charges £125 per hour PLUS .UCKIN VAT..so it soon mounts up.....add in nasty increases in parts prices......BUT PLENTY STILL BUYING THEM

Cars are old enough now for diy.

In the truck world, once a motor is out of warranty at 2 or 3 yrs old, very are for them ever to go to the dealers again, apart from techy stuff.

Yes, did my own service last year. Dead easy and not expensive. I’ll be doing my own rear brakes, but timing belts, it’s going to local independent specialist.

An off the shelf service filter kit is around £75.

Oil is personal choice, but can be bought at reasonable cost without going with the major brands.

Check brakes once a year incl. EPB (!!!!)

All being well, and if you know what to look for and what you're listening for, the D3/4's are not outside the realms of the home service DIY mechanic.

It always shocks me to hear what people are paying for a set of front discs and pads/fitted...

had major service and belts done on mine last October at 8 years old/98k at LR Main dealer under their fixed price 3+ scheme for £1200 all in.

been quoted £200 for my next service at Maltings 4x4 near Doncaster (as opposed to £400 at LR dealer as above)

apart from brakes, tyres and other consumables, services at 4x4 indys seem to come in around £200 for minor service (oil change etc) and £4-500 for a major service which is about the same as most normal cars these days.

on top of those prices there are of course things like suspension arms and other bits and lets not forget things like EGR and the dreaded c****ks (im not saying the word!! Laughing )

IMO £1200 is still on the cheap side, I paid 1900 € (~£1700 at the time) for a 7 year belt service and no qualified indys close by to help on smaller services.
