Nextbase rear facing camera
As Halfords have the rear camera on sale at £36 at the moment, I wondered if anyone had an opinion on whether they were any good or not, the reviews are mixed due to it being fixed to the upper tailgate and with constant opening and closing can move the camera are there ways around this?
I'm not keen on the rear one that plugs directly into the front camera due to restricted views of the rear, I'd probably just get a view of the dog peering forward
I've got a dashcam on upper tailgate ... I used the adhesive base that came with it and not had any issues. It's a nextbase 412 though but suspect you get same fixings..

I have the Nextbase rear cam on the tailgate too, and like Hardware I used the adhesive pad supplied. I have had no issues so far, but it helps to leave a little slack in the cable to allow for opening the tailgate.
Its a magnetic ball and socket and does move slightly on opening the tailgate, but always returns to its original position on closing. Clever but simple little gizmo!yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ

It was this quote in a review that was putting me off
"there is no way to lock it in position once you've got it set up, so the natural vibrations of the car or the slight tension of its cable (no matter how carefully you secure the cable) it moves slowly out of position every few days so you end up recording the boot or ceiling until its noticed, which isn't ideal if it's moved when you needed it"

Yeah I must confess I had concerns over this too before I purchased it. So I resolved to "find a solution" once fitted.
It's just that in my case there has been no issue, and I drive on fairly coarse surface rural roads.
I can take a pic of the cam in position if this helps you?yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ

That would be good thanks
Going to get one anyway as it doesn't seem to be a problem
I want it for travelling on the A82/A83 for the coming tourist season and better weather that brings the idiotic bikers out in their droves and they use the road as a race track

I also have the rear ball type camera and it doesn't move at all. I have a D3 commercial and i'm always opening the back door. The cable is routed along with the other cables from the back window so it doesn't move.

Does this mean a new profile name? Erasing the sins of the past and all that!
By the way, I forgot to mention the dash cam I fitted was the 522GW with bluetooth balh, blah, etc.
However I noticed the battery life in my Android phone was drastically reduced after downloading the app.
So I switched off BT and still the battery would drain in only 24hrs instead of the usual 4-5 days. I then had to "force stop" the app and the phone returned to normal charge life span

Hiya G,
I didn't think you had any more room left for another gizmo yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ
