No more 2.7 TDV6 engines?

Hiya all,

Just asking here as some of the guys on the spanish forum have been told that it is no longer possible to order the D4 with a 2.7 TDV6 engine.

The comments from the dealers is that it is no longer in production and they currently do not know when the lower powered 3.0 TDV6 engine (210bhp?) will be available to replace it.

ISTR something about this on here, but can't find it now.

Can anyone shed any light on this?

Thanks chaps Thumbs Up

My dealer said similar, when current stock is used up then it will be deleted.
May the road rise with you.
May the wind always blow at your back.
And the sun always shine on your face.
May God always hold you in the palm of his hand.

I forgot to mention, but (at least here in Spain), they are cancelling orders where a deposit has already been paid Shocked

GOOD!!! Does this mean they'll offer the 3.0 TD with the smaller brakes? Maybe we'll be able to fit some real tyres on some practical rims!!!!

LR Benelux is running special conditions on the 2.7 version in Belgium (upgrade "packs"). Advertised as still being available.

But due to tax implications so Belgium will probably be a key market for that engine size.

Vehicles ususally have a detuned engine in belgium as well - but i haven't seen any prices/models with a detuned 3ltr.
The next American ex-pat that calls it a "truck" is going to find out what 2.7 tons feels like on their foot...

I ordered a full 3.0 TDV6 a month ago, which is a tax heresy here in Belgium.
However, the dealer told us, a 211pk 3.0 Diesel should be available by May.
And should cut the tax price by 50%.

which probably eliminates the need for the 2.7...? Not much difference in power but better economy and emmissions.

I might fit the smaller brakes to mine anyway, it being legal here. I'm talking with my insurer today.

And then get a re-map. Very Happy Wink

I understood part of the reason for larger calipers was that the pad wear could be seen without taking the wheel off. Hve a look and see if you can see the pads. Maybe the only difference in stopping ability is the size of the disc. Idea

That sounds like it may be right.
My dealer said he wanted to cancel the order for my 2.7 commercial and replace with the 3.0.
All comes clear now.
i said to leave it as it is, so wondering if they will have to send with a 3 litre instead!!
Could I be so lucky?

Just got an update from one of the guys in Spain...

It seems that LR are going to honour any existing confirmed orders, but just not going to take any more orders and also can't tell anyone when the lower powered 3.0 will be available.

Land Rover are still actively advertising the 2.7 TDV6 on the web though:

I would assume that Dagenham will carry on building the 2.7 for other manufacturers - unless Stu knows different...

He's not been seen for 36 hours. Perhaps he's buried under a pile of crated 2.7s?
I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.
