No dip stick but would this work |
|
I have heard that if you use a length of net curtain wire ( white on e bay ) you can push it down the oil extraction pipe to get a reading. Anyone done this and can anyone see why not, would it be safe and possible ? I just have a phobia about the stupid dash reading system.

How would you know where the oil level should be on your length of curtain wire?

Easy, put the wire in when you know the level is correct using the dash reading, make a mark on the wire, it is white so permanent pen would do that. Then you have marked the the point to take further readings.I know this would be for emergency use only but for me I like to check the oil has actually been changed because after my recent main dealer service I suspected the oil had not been changed but that another story. BTW I got this curtain wire tip from another forum on face book.

https://disco4.com/forum/emergency-diy-dip...t=dipstick It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

"Easy, put the wire in when you know the level is correct using the dash reading"
doesn't that defeat the whole object if the guy doesn't trust the dash reading in the first place? 2014 D4 HSE Facelift Corris Grey

Has been discussed several times but it's still a long way behind...
1. What's this connector behind the grille?
2. What is noise/smoke/diesel smell from nsf corner?
3. The dead crows joke.
