No "Home Start"? on your policy....read on...

...Further to some problems yesterday,my suspension warning light came on with the "don't drive over 30mph" message......I had just picked up my 3-year-old from nursery, plus a friend,so decided to limp the 3 miles home and ring my Insurance company with whom I have "breakdown" cover.
As I have reported the fault from home, and have no "home start" on the policy, they won't help......because I reported the fault from "home" and the car is not more than a mile from my house.....I explained the problem started 3 miles from home,so they cover themselves by saying I am now reporting a "pre-existing" problem..... Rolling Eyes
So apparently,I was supposed to park at the side of the road, putting two 3-year olds and myself in danger, and sit around waiting for someone to come and get us in the pouring rain Evil or Very Mad
Moral of the story in Britain 2011.....don't try and do the sensible, safe thing.....just lie through you teeth and milk the system for all its worth like everybody else

Or, if there is a 'next time', report it when you are still a mile from home. Ask them to contact you when they are 10 minutes away. Drive home. Wait for the call. Drive back to where you were when you reported it... Whistle

The policy would probably only tow you to the nearest garage anyway which you are able to drive to.

Totally agree......but if I try and get there now,and the car goes into meltdown on the way,my Insurance company will now class it as pre-existing fault, and refuse to help me anyway.....talk about stuffing yourself by being honest... Big Cry
