NO SOUND ON RADIO!!! Radio Dianostic (secret menu)
Hello I wonder if anyone can help me.
Since the 23rd of December I’ve lost all sound in my Land Rover discovery 3 09 plate. After reading up on some posts it came to my attention that it looked like the amp would be the issue as the sat nav was working fine (just no sound). The touch screen was fine. And I could change the radio station, play cds, change to aux (just no sound for any of them). The sound came back randomly. Sometimes as soon as I unlock the car. Stupidly loud. Sometimes after 8 miles of driving. So I decided to buy a second hand amp. The amp I brought had a part number of XQK500093. But little did know the one in my car is XQK500095. Any way I wen ahead and plugged it in. Making sure all the cables were correctly in. Still no joy. Still no sound. The fibre optic cable has one red light through it that I can see. I then saw another thread saying that in the radio secret menu (where you hold the R/H knob down) it would show me what was connected the my MOST ring and in what order. When I’ve done this all it shows is HLD and PHM. Should this show IHU? And would it not Show AUD because the amp isn’t working? Please if anyone could help I would be grateful! Have also tried a hard rest (took positive and negative off connected them together left them off and reconnected) thank you very much in adavance!

If you have not yet fixed this, I have found that the Hard Reset process worked for me just yesterday on my 2005 HSE:
2022 BMW i4 M50. Bought Oct 2022. 10,200 miles and counting...
2014 BMW 435d convertible. Bought July 2021. 58,000 miles and counting...
2005 Discovery 3 HSE Auto. Bought Feb 2019. 169,000 miles and counting...
2009 Freelander 2 XS Manual. Bought Sep 2013. SOLD Aug 2021 (already regretted!)

Any luck with this Jamez?
Rather than start a new thread I thought it would be ok to post here for help....
Having a very similar issue. Everything was working fine until I disconnected the battery to remove the steering wheel. Since then everything works as it should but no sound. Sat nav, CD, Aux, everything working but no sound. Hard reset didn't work, removing the fuse didn't work, optic cable at the amp has one red light (right side). It's driving me batchy. 2005 HSE with Harman Kardon Logic 7....
Can I do anything with the gap IID tool? Any other fixes for me to try?
Certain it's not the amp since it seems directly connected to the fact everything stopped from the moment the battery was disconnected.... and it's word for word the usual common problem which should be resolved with a hard reset, or fuse removal, secret menu reset etc....
I'd be really grateful for some help for this, driving me insane! I just had to drive from the UK to Norway with a terrible bluetooth speaker for company!!!

It’s worth reading the fault codes and posting.

So when I took the radio out today, optic cable had one red light. As I was putting the cable back in the light went out. Don’t know if I snagged it or not. Yesterday I checked the optic cable at the amp, one red light, seemed ok.
I’m an absolute novice with the iid tool and this stuff in general....
Thanks again.

Well there is a fibre optic comms error.
Maybe worth seeing if you still have a red light aT the amp.
Not sure what else to suggest

Maybe previously the fibre optic cable has been snagged or damaged.
Could you try running another and see if that cures it?
I’ve no idea how easy that is to do on these cars though.formerly Disco3Ben

Is it likely to be the amp? I have an opportunity at a second hand amp but don’t want to buy and fit one unnecessarily....
I’d rather try everything else first.

pull the fibre optic cable out of the amp, you should see light coming out of the amp and the cable, one in one out.
if you see no light coming out of the amp it is faulty.
if you see no light coming from cable ether head unit or cable fault.

Thanks gearmuncher. From the amp I have no light coming out but a light going in. From the head unit no light in but a light going out. Then I guess I’ll try this second hand amp.
Is there any way to have the amp fixed? The car only has 56,000 miles and has barely had a rear seat passenger, the amp looks brand new! No idea of the history of the second hand one I’m getting....
