Seem to have a noise while I'm driving. It seems to be a regular sound as opposed to a constant sound.
It seems consistent with a section of wheel going around. Cant really hear it under 30mph, then it gets faster as the car goes faster.
I cant see anything, and cant feel any play in the NSF wheel, where I think it is coming from.
I think I can feel it through the steering wheel. It's easy to over think these things, so not entirely sure on that bit.
Reading up, I am thinking wheel bearing. I am wary of the other possibilities.
Any easy ways to work it out? MY07 Freelander2 SE Santorini Black - Gone

Just driven it again, with no children, radio, SWMBO, air con etc.
Seems like:
I can feel it through the steering wheel.
Through the brake when I gently press it.
It does seem a little louder when lightly breaking and turning to the right.
So think I am right, NSF bearing. MY07 Freelander2 SE Santorini Black - Gone

Jack the wheel up, spin it, listen for roughness, grab it at 12 & 6 0'clock and give it a good shake and again at 9 &3 check for play- should indicate if the fault lies in the bearing, do both sides for comparison

Although when I had a wheel bearing go, there was no movement at all when grabbing the wheel, nothing.
But it was knackered beyond belief

Just to be clear.
Jack it up
Check it twice
then work out
which is naughty or nice.
Thank Biffysun
Will try and do it Saturday.
Then perhaps again on Sunday MY07 Freelander2 SE Santorini Black - Gone

If it’s a wheel bearing they quite often make more of a noise when you load that side up ... by that I mean as you drive along as you turn the weight transfers to the opposite wheel... by turning left the weight transfers to the right wheel and this then increases pressure on that bearing and you may get more noise and feel through the steering wheel... therefore it is easier to determine which bearing is shot..
Trying weaving down a quiet road and you should get a pronounced change in noise dependant on which side...and that noise is normally the bearing on the opposite side to which you are steering....
Confused?.. think i’ve Confused myself..

Thanks FC.
That's what I was trying last night. Was coasting down a hill with decent bends on it.
It didn't really worsen per se. It was just a bit more pronounced turning right, and lightly touching the brake.
So would imply the NSF.
That tyre does have a very slow leak of some sort. When I check the tyres, I do normally have to top that one up a bit more than the others. The wear on that tyre is actually a bit more as well. MY07 Freelander2 SE Santorini Black - Gone

It could just be that tyre if it’s running incorrectly.... can you whack on a spare just to see...it could be running ovoid and/ or delaminating which would also cause your noise...
