NOKIA 6230 AND 2006 DISCOVERY 3 PTI |
|
Do any of you know if a Nokia 6032 software version 5.50 will work with the Disco PTI?
Thanks!

Right. I am just a bit confused with the software/firmware. At LR Spain, they tell me I have to get the software version detailed in the "approved phones list". However, all 6230s are pretty much gone (only 6230i are being sold now), and the few 6230s I have come across with have been updated to the 5.5 ver....
Car is to be delivered in may, and I'm trying to dig for a phone that will work.

Mine (6230) had the software updated to the most up to date stuff by a nokia service centre 4 weeks ago and works absolutely fine with the factory pti .

I assume you mean a 6230 (as per title) rather than a 6032 (as per text).
For a Nokia 6230 the approved telephones list has software version 5.35 listed. See owner information at http://www.ownerinfo.landrover.com/extfree2viewlrprod/index.jsp for details.
Perhaps those who use a Nokia 6230 sucessfully with the PTI could advise on the software version.
On Nokia the software version can be established by entering *#0000#

Right! Sorry, I meant 6230.
Thank you for your responses! I located a 6230 on e-bay and was hoping to keep it to its latest version instead of having to downgrade it.
Thanks again!

www.foneplanet.com had new ones SIM free a few weeks ago if it helps.

All good news then. However, does this mean that us users of the PTI are forever married to the 6230? Considering it has been discontiued since the introduction of the 6230i, I may have to either get a backup or pray mine never breaks....
Or... update the cradle/software as newer phones become compatible with the PTI....

Sort of, but I remember someone stating that LR had no plans to produce any new cradles. They may.... finally....... get it working with the 6230i though.
However we are talking about LR here so don't expect it before the i is superceeded

I have a different phone and number for the car, always kept in the cradle. Calls get diverted to this phone when my main mobile is off or not answered. Loving the power of the TDV8!

As many, many 1000's of 6230's have been sold - I suspect that they'll be available for some time.
My company standardised on the 6230 about 18 months ago - due to robustness and the GPRS stability on the phone for PC applications. We have over 350 of them out there...
Spares are cheap and the clip on covers and keyboards mean refurbishing a doggy old phone is very easy.
I use a 6230 v 5.5 in the cradle and it's fine - just not sure of LR's implemntation of the software though - it turns the radio on whenever you select the 'phone...!

I have the Nokia 6230 and the cradle. My Discovery 3 came with the PTI from the factory. When I place the cradle in it's place and connect the phone nothing happens. I even press the end button on the steering wheel as it says in the manual, but it never makes the supposed sound. My 6230 has software version 5.50.
Any ideas what can be wrong? 2010 D4 3.0 TDV6 HSE Zermatt Silver

Try cleaning the contacts... Does your phone even think it's cradled and charging?
