Hi all
Had a quick search but couldn't find an answer to this one. Today my D3 decided it wasn't going to start anymore, as I turn the key in the ignition the engine does'nt start (or even turn over) and I get all sorts of weird things happen: the doors randomly lock and unlock, the hazards go on, all the lights on the dash randomly flash and there are some weird clicking noises coming from the fuse box.
When I stop turning the key in the ignition this behaviour stops. Also, now I can't even lock or unlock the doors from the key either. Will call the stearlership tomorrow but just wondered if anyone had experienced this problem and what the solution was?
Cheers

Hi Tomo, i would say having read a few comments on here that either a loose battery connection or a flat battery are the cause of you're problem.

Thanks for the replies , the battery is the original one (55 plate), I'll have a go at jump starting it tonight - hope it's as simple as that, but if it is a flat battery I'm now thinking it could be a dodgy alternator '05 (55) TDV6 HSE Auto Zambezi Silver

Could be a deceased battery, not necessarily alternator. I had one go on a Renault a few years back - drove just fine Sunday, Monday morning nothing. Jumped it and it ran OK; guy at the battery place says yes, this sudden failure happens quite a bit

It only takes one bad cell to draw the whole battery down, 5 years is not a bad run.

thanks gents, I imagine a new battery will be cheaper than an alternator, so fingers crossed that it's the battery!
