North Ronaldsay-two weeks? |
|
Hi All.
Has anyone visited North Ronaldsay ??. I ask because we were thinking of visiting, but after checking Google Earth I see the island is very small - Is there anything worth making the ferry journey for.
Andi.

I live in Orkney but have not ventured up to North Ron yet. I think it is a fantastic place but cant see there being enough there to fill a two week holiday. Also, the ferry only goes once or twice a week (very much wether dependant) and it is a lift on-lift off service as there is no linkspan in North Ron for the ferry to dock with. You're probably better coming to Orkney and basing yourself on the mainland. From there you can visit several of the islands by ferry and also still fly out to North Ron for a day or two. Loads of things to see and do here Dave Neil

Thanks orkneydave.
We were invited to join friends on holiday to Orkney isles but then I found out it was on North Ronaldsay, I don't think any of us realised it was so small .
I would love to visit Orkney (Mainland) but our friends have been before and want to explore places they haven't been to, and therefore they are now looking at visiting Lewis. Obviously because they invited us we don't want to dictate to them where to go. Would love to visit Lewis myself anyway.
PS, is a lift-on lift-off what it sounds, would my beloved be lifted by some sort of crane in an unladylike manner.
Cheers Andi
