not another tailgate thread - this ones different

I have 2010 D4 and have had the tailgate actuator trigger at random times during driving. This occurs with both key fobs and will trigger when the car of running and driving or stationary with engine off.

It does not do this when locked. As example, drove 3km and it triggered 30-50 times, with no apparent trigger.

Anyone have some ideas for where to start looking?

Sounds like the microswitch in the tailgate handle is faulty, you can confirm by disconnecting the four pin plug behind the tailgate trim. You'll still be able to unlock by pressing the lock & unlock buttons on the dash or the key if you have the LR button configured to do that.

Hi,

possible the spring that is behind the paddle inside the switch has broke (or its missing) when you press the rubber outer there should be a bit of resistance does it feel loose or floppy.

Thumbs Up
