So to remove the OBD is simple.
It clips into place with “tabs” or “tangs” that are accessed from behind.
Remove the fuse board cover/drop down panel and with a torch all will be revealed.
Saying this on here gives nothing away to lurkers but where you re-locate it to is up to the individual.
Feel back along the cable running to the OBD…………Just unclick the tabs that exist every 4-5 inches that are basically cable ties holding the loom in place. Once you have un-clicked all of them you are left with a trailing lead of loom with the OBD at the end.
I tucked mine back under the centre console…. I could find it easily for IID plug ins but it could no longer be found by looking in its normal location. Nor could you see any trace of the loom from under the steering wheel.
It certainly worked for me. The scum with the box spent 45 seconds or so trying to plug in then carefully closed the door behind, beckoning the other two to follow him off the driveway.
I truly believe that any job that turns into anything out of the usual and they will leave. They are unable to diversify….they are also at their most vulnerable prior to starting the engine so any unexpected obstacle they encounter they will be off.
As far as I know, the D4 cannot be started or key cloned without using the OBD…. The later cars seem more vulnerable if nothing as they access the CAN system via parking sensors etc etc.
Moving the OBD took me 5 minutes and saved mine… please have a go and at least stop this seemingly easy attack.
I hope that you get a good resolution FamousFive…. I found that my “piece of mind” got worse and worse over the following days. I didn’t sleep well, my family were nervous they would return so it had to go.
Incidentally ….the apple AirTag will alert those around to its presence so those who use this as a tracker will have a very small window before it is discovered.A mod a week until I have nothing to improve or add.

Sorry to hear about this FF, it did make me think twice about collecting my D4 commercial yesterday but I think with certain precautions (and some luck) I can avoid being in the same situation.
Hope you find the right replacement as soon as the insurance company settles I want to see the sweets before I get into your windowless van... I'm not stupid!

Gutted for you.
I'm surprised people are still stealing D4s, are they really worth it...?

Maybe just the engine they’re after.

D3 here, so nothing like as desirable/vulnerable as a D4 - but I do like the idea of hiding an Airtag somewhere within.
As for Airtags alerting those around them to their presence if there's a perceived risk of 'stalking' - I'm not so sure about this. I'd heard that they do that, so when I got my first pack of them I gave one to SWMBO to take with her when she next went out, just to see what would happen - not a peep out of her iPhone to warn her that an 'alien' Airtag was following her around.

You can always hide an Airtag externally in a case from Amazon or in fuel cap etc
PowerfulUK had a video on how to disable the sound so the Airtag won't make a noise to give away its location.SOLD - 23my Range Rover Sport D300 Dynamic SE

Where can you get a dummy obd port/extension loom to relocate it elsewhere? TIA

Thanks.
Had heard good things about West 4x4 in B/Waltham? Was going to get a thorough once over and try and start with a clean slate…..
Already had my first ‘restricted performance’ so I think we are fully enrolled 😆
