Yes, check that you have got the latest software loaded and don’t use it for more than 10 minutes without the engine running or you will have a flat battery It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

I will have to figure that bit out. At the minute it’s doing nothing.

Maybe you could describe what you are trying to do? When getting the IIDTool you need a computer to update the software, put the GAP-Diagnostic app on your phone, then plug the tool into the ODBII port and activate the tool. Which step is failing?

It’s the elm237 type.
So the disc that comes with it needs loading onto my computer first then update the software before plugging it unit into the car.
It would be nice if there were instructions with it. I had taken it that the disc was only for loading the app to a PC.

Usually plug and play, and you may not need the disc.
Search for the ELM unit on your pad/phone/laptop when you plug it into the car.
There maybe a pass code, usually 0000
Use an app from Google Play etc to read codes and live readings. 'Torque Lite' is a reasonable one to try.
The ELM unit is quite limited on the D4 tho'.2011 MY D4 HSE

Sorry, the comments regarding updating the tool first and registering it related to a GAP Diagnostics IIDTool.2016 D4 TDV6 Corris Grey

Well it’s working now. The problem was the rubbish apps that don’t do anything. Now I have two scanners.

As mentioned Torque is probably the best app on Android but it is still limited to what it can do on a Land Rover Cheers Ian

If it’s left plugged in will it make the battery go flat?
