OBD2 Custom Cable

Hello all.
Just one week into ownership of my Disco 4 and starting to make it my own.
Already added some cheap rubber mats to protect the carpets (until I can source and afford some nice LR mats) but want to address the security issue of OBD.

Had a quick look, (well feel and squint) at the OBD socket and managed to remove it from its holder but the cable is only a few inches long before it becomes entangled in the loom.
For now it is poked as far back as possible but I would like to make it a little more secure.

The idea is to add a y split and 2mextension to relocate the socket elsewhere in the car.
Been looking around for cables but I can only find short y splits or excessively long flat / cheap ones with moulded plugs.
I would like to plug the y into the original socket and enclose the connection in heat shrink and / or a junction box to make it difficult to access. One arm would be a short link to the original socket location with the data leads removed and the other arm would be a 2m lead going to its new "SECRET" location.

I could achieve this with a short split and a long extension but it just adds more connections to break into.

Anyone make or know of a company that make custom cables that would be reasonably priced?

Failing that how easy are they to make?

I'm not an electrician beyond wiring a plug and don't know how sensitive the readers are to poor connections / cables.

Cheers all!!

Can't help with the cable, but I have decent rubber and carpet mats for sale and I'm in Sussex!

I did something similar for a Defender owner a while back:

Is it an easy job?
Wondered which of the following was the better option.
1: Custom cable.
2: Daisy chain a series of shorter cables to make up the length.
3: As above but join the actual individual wires with solder heatshrink to remove excess sockets.

Silly question but where would I start to look for the actual wire? I don't even know what to call it for a google search. 16 strand / way / something.

if you got something like this … https://www.amazon.co.uk/Eximtrade-Extensi...3_tr_t_2?_encoding=UTF8&amp&psc=1&amp&refRID=JGZ525CCHR09MGNDHKC8 … you'd have 2 of the 3 connectors you want plus a load of wire.

not an endorsement … can't for the life of me find the details of the cable I bought once.
