I went online to spec out a D5 to replace my D3. Aside from the base £40k not having satnav (if I read it correctly - if so WTF) I looked at the accessories for a few basic bits like a sump guard, RAI, winch mount.
Not a single proper off road accessory. No guard, no RAI, no winch options, not even sure its got proper recovery points. Just a load of lifestyle tat for your average Chelsea tractor/drug dealer types.
Not impressed. Am now looking for a late model low mileage D4.
Arguably Land Rover does not have a proper off road vehicle in its entire range now.
Yes, I'm a die hard LR fan and whilst I accept they can make Evoques etc to have not a single proper off road/overland capable vehicle in the range is appalling.
And it was cold last night so my D3 wouldn't start. Again.
Happy days.Tony

The hardcore version is on it's way through the SVO division.
Also the current D4 entry level has no sat nav, no great loss as LRs system was crap on my Fl2 and crap on my DS, so I don't expect it to be any better on the D5.23.5MY Defender 90 X-Dynamic SE D250 MHEV Pangea Green

So we have to pay a premium to be able to tow it out a hole? Tony

No don't have to, but I'm pretty sure the kit that will be on it will easily be retro fitted to the existing one.23.5MY Defender 90 X-Dynamic SE D250 MHEV Pangea Green

I'm sure I've read that the new all aluminium body/structure is 30% stronger & stiffer than the old steel ladder frame, can this be confirmed?Peter

The D5 has been through all the same testing, if not more, as all previous Discos.23.5MY Defender 90 X-Dynamic SE D250 MHEV Pangea Green

Photshoped but I have always liked this, get rid of the RAI as not needed and add light bar on roof, Expo rack and ladder. It would be pretty good.
