Off Road Insurance - possible companies?

Hi - after taking the Level 1 Experience at Snowdonia I was hoping to go on a few off-road events etc. After all, ain't that what D3's are all about?

However, I've been stymied at the first hurdle by my insurance company (Norwich Union) who've told me there is no way they will cover me for off-road useage of any sort Big Cry

Has anyone any suggestions for possible companies who provide off-road cover but will also cover my business use (not sales rep type use - class 1 business)?

NFU won't touch me as I'm not rural enough living in Liverpool and Land Rover Insurance wanted an arm, a leg and most of my lower torso....

I'm with NFU, and I live in 'rural' Stockport Laughing Even my wife insures her Mini via NFU. I use a local office based in Macclesfield.

No, he has not yet got a job. The deal is I will help him financially to pass his test and get a cheap car, but he has to earn some dough with a part time job and be able to run it first 8)

I'm with Land Rover Ins, and it is quite a bit more than standard insurance but I needed the off road cover. NFU were even more expensive for me.
Adrian Flux may be worth a call as there standard 4X4 cover includes Off Road according to this web page.

Incidently, if you are on a green land and have an incident, wouldn't you be covered under normal insurance as it is a public highway?

Yes a byway is a public road and insurance must be valid.

Yes, sounds like the same situation as me however I wont be getting my own car for a while yet (though have been giving my mind a treat on some...). Do you think NFU will cover them when you do? Apparently they can do very good deals for young drivers.

I'm with Admiral. Have checked with them recently and I'm fully covered off road so long as I'm not racing or rallying.

NFU will be asked to quote, as will a few others.
