Off roader/trailer puller Manual or Auto for a weekend toy w

Here is the challenge for an off road toy would you go Manual or Auto box.

I am looking to buy a D3 for an off road toy come trailer puller, I wanted to build something not too extreme I need to be still able to use it long distance motor way work. Having just been flooded out it could well be my main car for a while!

So I was looking to start with a HSE spec motor stick Nav and Leather stick a winch on + other bits and off we go, but now have an option on a forum members Manual non HSE spec and no Nav which is tempting, seats I can all ways change in the future.

The question is Auto or Manual?

What other MODS would you look for?

if some one has a built D3 for sale i would consider it?

Thoughts?

If your going serious offroad then the less toys the better and for towing and offroad an auto is best in my book Smile

Auto. Seem to remember the clutches on manuals weren't that strong, but I stand to be corrected.

Ok you have confirmed what I suspected I already have a D3 and a TDV8 both Autos and I do like them the attraction was an already winch equipped D3 which I was offered through here which has a winch and bits already on it.

So I need to find a HSE Nav Leather 2005 ish car and than mod it to suit.

who is going to be 1st with the list of modifications and likely costs?

Concealed winch behind the Bumper of the Land rover offering stuck out the front?

Thoughts

I have a manual you do need to be a bit more considerate with it , an auto is good. it is down to preference apart from the difference in fuel consumption I couldn't really say one is better then the other. I would not put the hidden winch on as if you are not winching straight you can't see what the rope is doing. I have the external one on which is far better in my opinion
