Off Roading in the North East of Scotland

Hi Folks,

Im aware of the crappy Laws in Scotland that prevent us going off road and enjoying our cars so does anyone know where i can take my D3 off road up here? Is there no pay and play places to go or places to go where no public would venture that could be used? Whistle

Im based in Inverbervie South of Aberdeen. I know there was a place just along the road for called Nor-Trak but i believe its not open anymore?

Anyone got any idea's? I have all this countryside around me and i cant go off the flippin tarmac!!! My AT2's are dying to play in the mud!!! Big Cry

Steven Thumbs Up

Try the Corrieyairack between Kingussie and Fort Augustas, one of General Wades roads. Thumbs Up

I thought that's been closed for few years now, a TRO from the bothy just after the Tarmac finished. Confused When I tried it with a couple of others here we got only a mile or two past the bothy, there was a wash out that was too narrow for a D3, Deafners could squeeze through.

Useful when the roads are like this, as long as you beat the plough. Whistle

Haha yeah true, i do enjoy the snow when its here.

It would be nice to really push the D3 though. Seen so many vidoes of what it can do yet i use my AT's to go over speed bumps and pot holes! Mad

The reason i bought the D3 was to keep me occupied as my wife wasnt happy with the last creation i built. (750bhp Mitsubishi Evo 8) So i thought well if i had one of these i could have great fun and i wouldnt need something fast. Dont get me wrong i love it as a daily driver i would rather drive it than the wifes 2010 Audi S3! But if i cant use it i can see me looking for another toy before long! Dont think she would be happy Rolling Eyes Laughing

Haha yeah there are plenty of farm roads and everytime i head up them to see where it goes i end up coming to a farm! Laughing

Its quite sad that they give all these laws and class 4x4 drivers that go off the road as criminals! Even away up the forest tracks Grampian Police have put signs up saying its against the law if you go any further and you will be prosecuted if caught! Evil or Very Mad

We have all this land and all of it is kept for hill walkers. I like walks with my family as well but they could at least designate a couple up trails for 4x4 enthusiasts. Mad

Looks like i will have to wander a fair distance from home to have a bit of fun!

There is a good site at Perth.

I was a member there for many years. I havnt renewed my membership in ages, but only because of personal circumstance. I am hoping to renew my membership as its a cracking site.

It has a good mix of decent easy to drive tracks as well as some very soft, sticky tracks.

Have a look at their website

Cheers

I believe there is also a small place near Inverness.

Also keep on the SLROC forum, there has been talk of doing a few bits further north this year
