Where are you off to this holiday?
I thought it might be cool to have everyone post a pic of their rig once its set up for the holidays.
Herewith my submission - roof rack on, STT's on the trailer and the D3, rear wheel carrier on, etc.
All set up for Namibia & Botswana.

Don’t think it fair.
Seeing you all rigged up and ready to go and knowing that I still have two weeks before I can get out of this place is not fair…

The rig looks cool. 8)
I am constrained by my 3 teenagers and the love of my life (she does read this) to head to the Eastern Cape to spend some (more) time at the sea and with my in-laws for two weeks.
(I have plans for Baviaanskloof. Moos se Kloof etc, etc,... )

Unfortunately we are not going to any serious off-road destination, but I will test the passenger carrying capacity of the D3 to its limits - 4 adults and 3 teenagers off to :
Caltizdorp and surrounds - hope to do Baviaans - 15 to 23 December, and
Ramsgate, KZN southcoast - 27 Dec to 7 Jan
Next serious trip is end April '08 to Kgadikgadi.
BTW saw article in latest SA4X4 stating that D3 has been voted the most versatile 4X4 in UK

On the First day of my holiday
On the First day of my holiday
I will be at LRCT trying to sort out a screaming and locking EPB.
Happened a few times since last night.
Sounds a bit like metal eating metal
Anyone else had this fun moment? How quickly is it "resolved"?
Deon pm me, hopefully in Jbay by weekend -- if you need a vehicle to recover in Baviaanskloof.

Guys,
I booked a day at Vleesbaai Dune route on the 28th of December since we will be camping out that way then.
If anyone wants to join us (about 35Km from Mosselbaai) speak now and for ever hold your peace! YOU NEED TO PRE-BOOK!!! Also only place down the coats where you are allowed to travel on the dunes and includes a "play area" where you can try out diff things. Last dune is a BEAUTY... saw a Land Cruiser making it at 3rd attempt only
Rates as one of the top 10 in the country and the best Sand Dune one in SA...
If you are keen PM me and I will organise. Cost is R180 per Vehicle.

AP, had mine fixed after I got back from Botswana. They replaced the actuator and brake linings - done in a day, plenty of info on this site regarding the "quirky" EPB, still love the concept though.

Back from first leg of holidays - had purchased plenty of port and wines and loaded roof-rack quite heavily since I've had it - must say I am amazed by the stability of the D3 with heavy loaded roofrack compared to Defender which sways like a drunk when loaded !
Pleased to report that more and more D3 drivers are getting into flashing of lights / friendly wave when passing - I still enjoy the look on the Defender's driver face when waving to them from a D3 though.
Breakdowns witnissed : Jeep short wheelbase X 2 (both on low beds in seperate incidents), Defender X 1 ( I stopped to assist, but owner said something about loose fanbelt which he attends to every now and then), D3 X 1 ( I could not stop as it was on freeway in opposite direction - tow truck was there and it seems that there was a problem with the tow hitch towing a double horse box)
Enjoy the festive season further and drive carefully
