Offroad height at speed?

First post Very Happy

Wonder if the suspension will stay up over 40mph, and if it's a redesigned EPB?

Why would you want the suspension way up high at speeds over 40mph? Laughing MPG would suffer! EPB must stay......... then we all can be in the same boat!!! Laughing

Your Censored gets hammered on high ridged tracks and the suspension drops just as you hit ther bottom of the dune. Evil or Very Mad

I am also interested to know the answer to this - on the D3, one of the problems with sand driving is that the computer automatically drops the vehicle from the highest ride height setting once a certain speed is exceeded. This is a significant problem if you are following some other vehicle's tracks in the sand, because the vehicle will belly up on the deeper sand ruts, and you end up stuck! Big Cry

I can understand why LR would want to keep the COG low when driving over sand once you exceed a certain speed, but sometimes, you *must* drive at a high speed over very soft sand to avoid bogging. So some folks have developed a solution for the D3, but don't like the idea of interfering with complex electronics on the D3. It would be better if the factory provided a proper solution instead.

If someone has a D4, do they mind testing sand mode to see if the vehicle height drops when driving fast?

Thanks!

Someone has been reading waht overlander said. Wink

Fair enough but it should be your choice. Bear in mind that the guy who wrote it has just been the guest of LR Aust to go the Eastnor.

Land Rover have no intention of doing anything about it, despite the Toerag is able to do 70kph before lowering.
And Land rover Aust do not want you to be able to change it either. Twisted Evil

See: http://www.aulro.com/afvb/d3-zone/90806-fo...ost1104957

Land Rover Aust may have a point about warranty but they do not believe it should be at your risk, they wish to be your nanny. Rolling Eyes

They also do not like the Mitchell bros hitch.

Matzkar system is good but expensive is really an on road handling kit with the ability to raise the ride height, but I think LR approved though.

I test drove a D4 last week and the first thing I tested, was off-road ride height in sand mode... and yup... just before it tells you to finish eating your greens and sends you off to bed with a warm cup of cocoa, it warns you at 40km/h Sad that the suspension will drop to normal ride height if you don't slow down... and then, because it assumes you are a blithering idiot, devoid of any common sence and know nothing about off-road driving... at 50km/h, it drops Crying or Very sad regardless of your desperate need for ground clearance Question Question Question

It would be good if the Raise switch is used after the 40kph warning that the limit becomes 80kph for that ignition cycle, but that would be too much to hope for.

Land Rover wish be your nanny, not just when you buy but after you own it. Evil or Very Mad
They have tried to prevent even the developement of our mod which gives an extra 30mm at speed. They are suggesting it alters the brakes.
We believe as it just shortens the rod it just self levels higher, returning the position of the sensor the the same position, just with the vehicle slightly higher. No different from any coil sprung vehicle with stability control.
Working on a switch to only allow driver selection, resets off at ignition off.

The post is pretty old but the topic still hot. Evil or Very Mad

Have you managed to build that switch? The Matzker solution may be good (never drove it) but way too expensive for my taste.

No didn't bother with the switch as LR backed off when asked by solicitor what it had to do with them.
I sold a few but there is now an electronic kit which is cheaper and esier to fit.
