Offroad insurance

Chaps, some advice please: I'm thinking of taking my own D3 on an organised off-roading day. The organisers require "off road insurance cover". My D3 is on a normal multicar policy.
Does anyone know if normal insurance companies offer this cover or include it as standard? Do I have to go specialist?
I'll phone my insurer later this week but any words of wisdom welcome...
Thanks,
Gavin

LR Ins, NFU, A-Plan & Adrian Flux spring to mind as offering offroad cover with their policies. Thumbs Up

admiral .our multicar insurance firm didn't want to know..even for a premium.
so I contacted landrover insurance and it was sorted,,,
they have the idea...if you bought a landrover
you WOULD be going off road...common sence really...
we will def being going with lr next time and changing our other lr as well

Gavin, is that the one at LRE Dunkeld? There is a driving day at Bathgate on Sunday 25th, run by SLROC, £25 a car, no need to be a member. Thumbs Up

Dave T,

Yes, LRE at Dunkeld driving through various Perthshire estates - looked good, although they require off-road insurance; my policy is a multicar with Admiral and they don't appear to offer this as cover which is proving a bit problematic.

Yes it is a great place to go, but have you ever thought of green road runs with SLROC, they can be as little as a fiver for a day out

My (old) insurer, Tesco, were very clear that any off road driving, i.e. beyond that which you might reasonably be expected to do in a road car, was not covered and they considered this to be consistent with all typical road car insurance. As mentioned, Adrian Flux, A-Plan, LR and other specialists do provide off road cover. I tried A-Plan as they are sponsors here but they were not competitive for me as I needed 15k miles a year. Adrian Flux beat my renewal quote from Tesco.

LR insurance every time - only a major claim can prove how good your insurer really is!

had tescos in the past, and in the event of a basic claim they were amazingly slow and painfull!!

if you are never going to have an accident or an offroad incident than fine , go with the cheapest Thumbs Up
