Euan, sorry to hear about your diff; if its any consolation, Andy White is replacing mine shortly as it is completely goosed!
On a positive note, I hear snow is forecast for this weekend - time to play with the Terrain Response!

Just had my front one replaced under warranty. 09 HSE with 50k on the clock. Is this normal? Only had for 2 months, so don't know driving history of car. I am second owner.

Had to endure a very frustrating day.....engineering report was sent off to LR in good time .....then waited all day for the go-ahead from LR,which by 3pm (the cut-off for fitting) still hadn't been received.
The new diff is sitting in Team Valley LR waiting to be installed, which makes it all the more frustrating that I have to make yet another 170 mile round trip....
I know LR were most likely very busy, but it was impressed upon them that I had travelled a good distance and didn't particularly want to make the journey for a 3rd time "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to speak out and remove all doubt" ?.....what rubbish...

You have my sympathy Euan, but I'm sorry to say I am not surprised
Unfortunately JLR (and, similarly, the LandRover Warranty people) have next to no regard for their customers time nor 'customer service'. In my own experience, JLR and their dealers seem to think it is acceptable to value 9 hours of their customers time as one of their 'engineer's', as to JLR Customer Care
It is precisely for this reason that I think we need to get as many people as possible to sign up for the oil pump contributions - whilst we are unlikely to get JLR to initiate a recall or even admit that there may be a problem, we can at least try to make them aware that their owners do care and are not prepared to be swept aside. I haven't but am about too!
Euan, nice to finally meet you.
Beanie, would it not have been easier just to buy a full defender?
Anything else needs collecting let me know & I can collect/hold then pass on to Euan, have an empty 10' trailer at the mo if needed! Paul.

I have to go back to Team Valley again next Wednesday for them to prepare a full Engineering report....oil checked for filings, photographs, diff ID number etc.....but they're pretty sure that what it is
I know it's a warranty issue but after only 26k ???.....it's another 170 mile round trip
At least the front diff on my D3 lasted 65k.......not happy

I'm going to ring them this morning, and see if LR have authorised the work yet......it's particularly frustrating as the new diff arrived the day after it was ordered... "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to speak out and remove all doubt" ?.....what rubbish...
