Oil $75/barrel - Where's MY money?

Oil is now one-half of the price at its recent peak. Why am I still paying £1.15 a litre for diesel? 2006 D3 finally swapped for a 2016 D4 Graphite in Graphite grey. No mods

Its probably cos they are still using the stocks the oil companies paid double for......It wont come down to its original 98p though will it............government robbery. Big Cry

Man at AA (the motoring one - I'm not driven to the bottle yet) sez that for every $2 reduction in barrel price there should be 1p off a litre of fuel at the pumps.

SO $150-$76 = $74 reduction per barrel and should reduce OUR costs by 37p Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

£1.15 per litre - 37p = £0.78 per litre

But our pump prices went up without a lead-in time... so they should come down just as quick Evil or Very Mad

Anyway back to reality - one of my hens has broken a tooth after slipping in some rocking-horse manure from when the flying pigs frightened them.

Evil or Very Mad 2006 D3 finally swapped for a 2016 D4 Graphite in Graphite grey. No mods

I hate to be the one to contradict everyone but the price of fuel will never return to 78p level unless there is a massive stock market crash (no we are not there quite yet), which wouldn't benefit us anyway Big Cry Big Cry . After 28 years in both upstream (exploration and production) and downstream (refining) I can say that the reason behind this is that besides the oil companies making massive profits from high oil prices the service industries supplying the oil industry also are making massive profits as they have increased their costs greatly, so helping them selves to their share of the profits. For example the subsea diving fraternity decided they wanted more money and went on strike for and got a 70% pay rise, are they going to give this back?? As the price of oil drops due to market changes the charges from these service / manufacturing industries doesn't. So there will always be a differential even if the oil companies were to pass on all the reduction it wouldn't be the same. I'm afraid the AA man doesn't have a scoo bee doo!! Sheep Sheep

That doesn't mean we can't have a rant at the horrendous taxes we jave to pay and the fact that the government is a weak, do gooding bunch of eco w****rs bleeding us dry. Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

What really gets me is they said wholesale gas prices is linked to oil prices, so when oil went up so did gas and electric because of the costs to generate it.
So I take it gas/electric prices is no longer linked to oil prices then?

Filled up (80l) at 1pm on Friday at £1.169 per litre. Went by the same garage not 3 hours later and it was down to £1.139. I wonder if it's down another 25p right now... Time flies like an arrow; fruit flies like a banana

You need to take into account the £/$ exchange rate too......the falling pound means that it isn't a straight line equation - and the price of oil represents the only part of the cost of a litre at the forecourt.

While the price of oil has dropped so has the AUD from 96c to 66c (to USD) in the last few weeks. 06 TDV6 SE with many LR and after-market extras. Used only on weekends and trips out west.
