Oil leak from gearbox Sleeve 2006 Disco 3 HSE

HI, I am looking for some guidance and advice. I have put my Discovery in to have a service with a Dealer and they have informed me that there is a leak from the gear box and the part that needs to be replaced is the Sleeve.
They are quoting me £1200 to do this and upon looking on web the only sleeve I can find as a part is a Vacuum sleeve that costs under £10.
Has anyone had a similar issue and or had a sleeve replaced ?
Does it really cost £1200?
I may not know the particulates of putting this sleeve on but would like to ensure I am informed of the work that needs to go in it.

Any advice would be gratefully appreciated.

Thanks
Mo

Did you leave your vehicle with a Land Rover Main Dealer, if so it won't take long to reach the £1200 most of that will be labour.

I had a gearbox serviced on my previous D3 and part of the service was to change the transmission plug as its a known place to leak, the part was around £35 3 years ago.

May be worth asking for a breakdown of costs and a 2nd opinion for somewhere else

and of course Welcome Thumbs Up

Hi Sea Raider
Thanks for the direction, I put the car in for a service and this is as a result of there investigation that they have come back to me with.
I have asked for a break down, but feel that its excessive in terms of cost. I don't think I will go ahead with it but want to ensure I am making the right choice.
I have had the car for 8 years and have had the car serviced by main dealer for the time to ensure I have the history but this seems excessive in cost.

Thanks
Mo

Nearest auto gerabox place will be cheaper, a lot cheaper.

Also do not forget there are leaks that need fixing now and there are leaks that are not reaching the floor so can wait, sometiems years.
