England 2015 Discovery 4 3.0 SDV6 HSE Lux Auto Stornoway GreyDiscovery 4

I have just done an oil change by sucking out the oil which I transferred to an empty 5 litre container. I added 5 litres of new oil and the gauge showed maximum. I checked the calculated volume with the Gap IID tool and it showed 5.9 litres. There was no overfilled message when i ran the engine. I wondered if the gauge and volume calculation were out so removed a small amount of oil to see what happened and the volume fell back to 5.5 litres and the gauge dropped off the maximum mark.

There must be some residual oil in the system!

All this could be avoided if we had a simple dipstick.
