Oil Pump - on D3 model year 2006

Hello to all folks!

Could you please advise whether i should replace the OIL PUMP on my Disco (model year 2006 on 130K miles)

I have replaced all belts twice (on 2014 & 2021) but never replaced the OIL PUMP (only the water pump i replaced on 2014).
Whats your opinion? Should i stick onto the old one or you advise to replace it and if yes whats the best replacement part??

cheers

Yes, replace it ASAP.

You original pump will have the weak casting design which has been known to break and cause engine failure. In any case, your original pump will be worn to some extent and unlikely to be able to provide the oil pressure it could when new.

This is the pump you need:

thnx for the reply.
I had the info that models year 2007 have issue with "problematic" oil pumps....someone to confirm?

Should i replace it as a precausion...

i made a quick search FoMoCo pump for Citroen 1001 G2 is the best part, right???

cheers

sourcing citroen ones is difficult now. If you can get one at a cheap price then do.

Otherwise the link above.

2007 are most prone to failure. But given the age of a 2006 now you would be wise to change

i will go for the Citroen one (1001 G2) - ive located one via ebay having 9X2Q-6600-AE

The local workshop though quoted double the amount i paid 3 years ago for replacing the three belts....
Is that SO difficult job this one???

I guess its because they haven't done the job before.

The crank seal on the pump can be tricky to get right, so I guess that also covers them for doing the job twice if they get it wrong

Finally i have obtained the FoMoCo oil pump and i will schedule its replacement with the workshop!!

Should i inform them to check and propably replace any other critical part now???
- All three belts & associated pulleys etc have been replaced before 4 years (3 more years to go...)
- Water pump had been replaced during the first ever belt change ( 11 years ago...)
