Shell Helix Ultra Professional AFL is one of the few correct oils, 5 litre tins and you can use it to top up after the service. The AFL is important, AF will get you through till the service but must be changed every 6k miles, AFL 16k miles. It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

Never had to top up my Disco or changed oil myself, but in these situations with other cars I refer to the description on the service sheet I get or ring the place that did the service and ask what they put in. You could try that if you do need to fill it.Gary

5/30 C1 is correct spec for SDV6 with DPF.
Brand name is pure choice.
Many people prefer to stick to names they know, and discuss how one oil can be the same spec. But a whole different price band...and that's exactly how marketing works.

A good thread here for SDV6 oil.

(I've saved it for if/when I need to top up). I was a normal heterosexual chap, but in these new woke awakenings I now identify as a Wardrobe.

LR last serviced it at the beginning of September at 98300miles and now on 107000miles, is half way on the oil check gauge excessive ?2011 D4 XS 305 MY12 - gone but not forgotten

How can you be certain they are putting the correct grade in unless it is a main dealer who only uses one grade of oil for all vehicles, putting an higher spec oil than is needed will do no harm except to your pocket.
With the vast difference in price between C1 and C3 my thinking is 50% of cars are running on the incorrect specification of oil and it isn’t confined to LRs.It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

I know of an Indy that puts 10/40 A/B grade in everything..but they don't deal with anything 'new', as in SDV6 etc.2011 MY D4 HSE
