Oil for transfer Case

Hi to all..
Sorry for the new 3d, but i made a search but didn't find info..

My local Land Rover Service didn't sell to the the final customer the oil TF0753 for the transfer case, only for the internal Workshop..

So i order form a local shop 2 bottle of Ravenol TF-0780..

Today it's arrived.. but the ship non the Ravenol oil.. instead 2 bottle of Motul Multi DCTF.. I call him and they tell me they have the same specs and work fine into the transfer case..

Some one of you have already used it??

I found the two TECHNICAL DATA SHEET and they look the same..

https://www.ravenolitalia.it/index.php?con...chment=314

What did you Think about?? I can use the Motul??

Thanks a lot
Bye

Hi

Must admit the Motul Multi DCTF is listed as a transmission fluid also can’t see Land Rover listed in the
Motul sheet

Personally would change it for the Ravenol TF-0780

Hopefully someone more knowledgeable will be along to double check that for u

Will see if I can in the mean time find out anymore info for u

It’s one of those things that “everyone” seems to put in Ravenol TF-0870 unless they’re really loaded and buy the JLR version containing unicorn tears and pixie dust. So Ravenol has become a household replacement accepted by everyone as a known good working fluid.

Unless you agreed to a substitution request them to ship you the real deal.

Edit: Motul’s own selector doesn’t confess knowing anything about the transfer box oils.

https://www.motul.com/za/en/lubricants/rec...05-2009%29

(FWIW, I put Ravenol TF-0870 in a few weeks ago when I changed transfer box oil) Thumbs Up

What does the rest of the world pay for Ravenol TF-0870 vs. IYK500010 (LRN0753)?

In the US, Ravenol is $32/L and LR Brand is $35/L - so I buy LR brand.

Hi

Ravenol £20 per litre $26

https://www.ravenol-direct.uk/ravenol-dtf-...-0870.html

Genuine around £28.00 per litre $36

More than likely got it wrong, but looked at yahoo for £ to dollar exchange rate $ 1.296

Out curiosity what do u pay for genuine ZF 6 lifeguard oil per litre please,

is around £25 per litre/ $32

Thanks Guys,
I know that the best was the original Land Rover.. but here my local land rover service didn't sell direct to customers.. only for internal workshop..

Also, the Ravenol is sold out from local shops.. and i dislike to buy oil over ebay o amazon from unkow seller..

The Motul one seen to have the same specs as Ravenol TF0870 (at the end of the thec specs is write that is equal to the TF DCT-F3 (a shell reseller tell me that is the new name of the old TF-0753) and the TF0870.. so teorically is tha same as Ravenol TF0870..

Also a lot of BMW P/N form the two specs are equal.. and the viscosity are the same..

Probably i'll make a try.. Made an order from UK only for 2 lt of oil will bee too expensive..

ZF Lifeguard 6 is $18/L (£14) in the US

Many here use Mercon SP instead, as it is only $7-8/L (£6) and say it is chemically identical (used in the same 6HP26 in Fords)

But for me, I will spend the extra $50-60 per 50,000 miles (my trans schedule) to use ZF LG 6

I paid 21.84 eur VAT 24% per liter including shipping for Ravenol.

Wow, so basically half price where u are

The Mercon SP here is around £10 per litre

Personally use the Mannol AG55, 10 x litres , £50 / $65 , amazingly that’s from Germany with free postage to the uk , so have enough for 2 x changes

I've just changed my transfer box oil using the Smith & Allen offering.

I use them for all my oils - no problems over the last few years.
 I see no ships........

Hello,

After Some research to find alternatives for Genuine LR transfer case (TC) oil I came to conclusion that there are plenty of right products for D3 Magna Steyr TC even if it is marketed as “CVT oil” for others.
I chose:
WOLF ECOTECHCVT FLUID
PRODUCT CODE: 3020
COLOUR RED
Will be filling my TC with this lubricant tomorrow.

Basically I will be filling CVT oil and you have DSG oil. A lot of specifications match between differing products. So bottoms up we go!

I also use this, Joe. Good stuff.

I also use their diff oil and ACE/power steering fluid.

It's generally cheaper to buy direct from their website... https://www.smithandallan.com/products/tra...r-box-oil/
