I have had reports that the Pathfinder is very good, only slightly let down by poor turning circle and 500mm wading depth, but as has been said above you get all your goodies for £30k and good mpg.Zermatt silver 06 reg.
Pathfinder ride quality is supposedly pretty poor compared with the D3.
There's a few around here, for some reason they all seem to be driven by what can only be classed as 'old gits' The End

You can't fault the BMW X5 for its reliability, but since it only provide comfortable seating for 5 adult, it falls outside your requirement.
i've put the following possibles on me spreedsheet and put relevent scoring (from what car), did a bit of sorting based on your preference...
BMW X5
Disco3
Toyota Landcruiser
Toyota Landcruiser Amazon
Audi Q7
Volvo XC90
Jeep Commander
Hyandai Santafe
Merc GL
VW Touareg
RRS
Lexus RX
Mitsubishi Shogun
Nissan Patrol GR
Nissan Terrano
Nissan Pathfinder
Merc M
Porsche Cayenne
Kia Sportage
Kia Sorento
Ssangyong Rexton
Jeep Cherokee
Disco3 fits your requirement more then anything, and toyota Landcruiser Amazon second. Also worth looking into Mitsubishi Shogan and Nissan Patrol GR. I assumed you wanted a 7 seater which can accomodate 7 adults rather then 5 adult and 2 kids.. (this rules out most of the 4x4s)

I recently drove a Nissan Pathfinder & was totally taken aback with how totally horrible it was on the road. The handling was all over the place, horrible, horrible, horrible thing to drive
With regard to a Volvo XC-90………DON’T DO IT !!!!
I bought one in 2003 & with was the worst car I ever had, with faults from the very day I picked I up. I ended up selling it back to the dealer after less than a year of ownership for a loss, just to get rid of the thing. It was the one time I strayed from Land Rover & I can tell you I never will again.
As well as such faults as bit falling off it & very dodgy suspension issues, the day I drove it home from the dealer, I noticed it was pulling to the left, requiring the steering wheel to be held off centre to drive in a straight line. After several attempts by the dealer to rectify the problem it never got fixed. When I sold it back to them, the two rear tyres were worn on the inside, the front left was worn on the outside, with the front right being perfect
Volvo apparently said they never came across this before, however during the course of trying to diagnose these issues, myself & the service manager took out two other XC-90’s for a test drive, one being the dealerships own demo car & another a customers car in for service that day. Both cars exhibited the same characteristics
I recently heard of a guy in my own town here who’s XC-90 was back at the dealers, on a recovery truck, three times within the first month of ownership.
So whatever you may do, don’t buy the Volvo.

At the risk of getting absolutely hammered by other forum members........what about a Renault Grande Espace. High driving position, good NCAP, 7 seats, lots of luggage space but I don't know about reliability!!TDV6 SE - Buckingham Blue with Alpaca

Is it too late to reject and get a replacement? I'm unaware of anyone who's had trouble with no.2. That way, you get all the benefits of a D3 and probably get the most for your original D3 from the dealer as against a replacement.Time flies like an arrow; fruit flies like a banana

I've got 2 new (Apr 06) D3s and not had any breakdowns or real problems from either. The HSE needed all new seats (due to staining from seat covers) and that's been it. The 06 cars do seem to be sorted. I did 8000 miles in 2 months last May & June in a Ford Explorer with a fair bit up logging tracks in Washington State. It was OK (can't really remember much about it) but it was not a patch on the D3, didn't even think of that at buying time. Good luck in whatever U do get.

Anyway, I assume change is still an option, not a definite.....
Has it been fixed yet?

RRS for me , but if I had to choose instead of the rrs it would be the pathfinder.
good reliable engines , good looks (looks a bit like a d3), good off road.
before I bought the D3 this was my other choice. I do like this jeep.
