One for the Insurance Gurus!!!

For those in the know about these things:

Just got a D3 rental via LRA as mine is knackered, not Enterprise but a "local" company. So far so good, apart from the £750 excess instead of £250 (but didn't sign that bit!), looked up the reg on www.askmid.co.uk out of nosyness but it was not listed. Is this right, would a rental car be on a fleet policy but not lis individual cars?? If so that would be fun to explain at a ANPR checkpoint, esp since it is the driver's responsibility to have insurance.

Thoughts???

I would of thought as its a rental, and not owned by you, your insurance covers it 3rd party assuming you did'nt opt that out of your D3 insurance.

Nope its down to you most rental companies (big ones are self insured) keep the RA with you at all times thats the proof

Ask MID aint allways right (about two weeks behind) although Fleet companies now submitt weekly

DSL, just contact your insurance and transfer the cover. Thats what I did when I had the enterprise D3 when the wheel bearing packed up.

LR Insurance covered the hire car on my policy at no extra cost. (only needed to do this cos I was towing the caravan and enterprise insurance didnt include towing)

The car maybe insured on the chassis number as mine is. Thumbs Up therefore won't come up on the database.
